Defense Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance Suite
Accenture Federal Services (formerly Novetta) provides advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) technologies to the U.S. defense sector.
Products include Ageon ISR and GeoSpera, used for real-time situational awareness and forensic analysis.
The Challenge
Novetta wanted to pull together its multiple applications and systems into a more consolidated suite of products which meant finding opportunities for alignment across interaction models and UI library.
The Solution
We implemented a two-pronged approach:
Centralized Hub: Created a central hub to unify access to all ISR applications.
Standardized UI: Established a core UI library with shared styles and modular components across products.
This facilitated easier navigation and reduced training needs by leveraging consistent user interfaces and interaction models. At the same time, product-specific components allowed for tailored functionality within each application as needed.
My contribution
As the Director of Product Design at Novetta, I worked with the Senior Director, designers, and front-end developers in a federated model with multiple product teams to:
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the redesigned suite met both user needs and product goals.
Integrate modern UX practices to enhance user experience.
Results
In 2022, The Navy successfully showcased some of the redesigned applications in the Navy's "Digital Horizons" exercise. Accenture Federal Services' ISR suite successfully aggregated and visualized data from various drones used in the exercise, aiding Navy officials in real-time decision-making. within the organization.
Conclusion & Learnings
The integrated redesign work not only delivered a superior user experience but also solidified the brand aesthetic and interaction models, resulting in a cohesive and effective product suite. The successful application of the redesigned applications in the Navy's "Digital Horizons" exercise validated this approach.
